Mental Health in the Workplace Courses in Essex

Our Mental Health in the Workplace courses in Essex provide individuals and businesses with the knowledge, skills and confindence to recognise, support and sign post colleagues in the event them experiencing Mental ill Health.

According to the Office for National Statistics, in 2021 there were 5,219 registered suicides, an increase of 307 from 2020. This was more prominant in Males with 15.8 per 100,000 compared to 5.5 per 100,000 females (these figures are age standardised and more information can be found here). Males in the 50-54 age range were found to have the highest suicide rate at 22.5 per 100,000.

In the UK 1 in 4 people will experience some form of Mental ill Health, and this has lead to many employers now recognising and pro-actively enhancing Mental Health amongst their employees and are placing as much importance on this aspect of health, as they do when they are considering their First Aid, Fire Safety or other mandatory provision they must provide. We are able to offer 3 solutions with regard to training staff effectively in the Mental Health in the Workplace qualification.

Level 1

This half day awarness course is aimed at employees on a large scale to provide basic knowledge in understanding what Mental ill Health can be, how to recognise this in themselves as well as recognising a colleague who could be experincing Mental ill Health, and undertanding how they could be feeling.


This course is suitable for all sectors and working environments with many companies putting all of their workforce through this course, with supervisors and senior managers completing the higher Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications.

This 1 day Level 2 course is aimed at supervisors and team leaders going into more detail than the Level 1 awareness course on understanding what Mental ill Health is, recognising signs of Mental ill Health within their teams and knowing how and where to sign post colleagues in the event of them suffering from Mental ill Health.


As well as providing delegates with the skills, knowledge and confidence in the recognition of Mental ill Health, delegates also look at good Mental Health and how this can be implemented into their work environments to work towards preventing Mental ill Health in a pro-active manner.

Level 3


This 2 day Mental Health in the Workplace evel 3 qualification is aimed at managers, and staff who will take on the role of "Mental Health First Aider". A comprehensive course that will go into depth on why and how Mental ill Health can occur, the types of Mental ill Health and their signs and symptoms for recognising these within the workforce.


Delegates will also cover how to start and initiate conversations with colleagues who may be suffering Mental ill Heath, what systems can be put in place to allow colleagues to ask for help and where to sign post people in the event of suffering Mental ill Health or a Mental ill Health crisis.


As part of this course, delegates create a wellness action plan that can be taken back to their workplace and discussed with management and implemented to help prevent Mental ill Health occurring as a result of workplace influences.
